Schuyler Skaats Wheeler was born in Massachusetts on May 17, 1860 and died on April 20, 1923. He was an American engineer who invented two electric fan propellers in 1882 at the age of 22. He also patented a type of electric battery. He was awarded the John Scott Medal of The Franklin Institute in 1904 and became president of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers 1905-1906.

The two-wheeled propeller found by Schuyler Wheeler was produced by the Crocker and Curtis Electric Motor Company. He married Amy Sutton on October 11, 1898. He died of angina pectoris at his home in Manhattan.
